Jailhouse Rock

"I don't know why they got me locked up in this jailhouse."

This is a repetitive phrase I hear from one of my patients who resides in a nursing home. So today, instead of offering my usual "I'm sorry. It must be frustrating for you," I decided to try something new.

I pulled out my iPhone and searched for Elvis Presley's Jailhouse Rock. I declared it as her theme song and showed her the music video. She looked at me kind of funny but watched anyway.

See, jail can be fun, I offered with a bright smile.

I'm not sure she bought it, but she did have a good laugh.

Maybe next time I'll bring her a black and white striped shirt.

This last Sabbath we were invited to a church family's home for lunch, along with many others. This particular church family has three Great Pyreneese dogs and a large, luscious yard which includes fountains and small pools. Our dogs love to swim, so it was no surprise when they bolted straight for the water. Later, as we were eating, our host proclaimed jokingly, "Let it be known that it's the pastor's dogs who are swimming on Sabbath."

Later I found this clip and thought it too perfect not to share. :)
